# Find any keyboard shortcut

Search the shortcuts for macOS, Windows, Chrome, VS Code and Google Docs by what you want to do, or by the keys themselves. Pick your computer and every answer comes back as the keycaps to press.

## How the finder works

Every shortcut on this site sits in one list that the finder searches as you type. Words match the action and a few everyday synonyms, so “screenshot”, “capture” and “print screen” all find the screenshot keys. Anything that looks like keys, such as `ctrl+d` or `⌥⌘V`, is matched against the shortcuts themselves, exact combinations first.

The platform switch changes which keys you see: Mac shows Command, Option and Control, Windows and Linux show Ctrl and Alt. Linux has its own column where VS Code differs; Chrome and Google Docs use the same keys on Windows and Linux. Each result links to its full cheat sheet, which you can filter, print or download.

## Questions

**Which versions do these shortcuts cover?**

Each sheet was checked in October 2026 against the maker's own list: Apple's Mac keyboard shortcuts guide for macOS, Microsoft's list for Windows 11, Google's help pages for Chrome and Google Docs, and Microsoft's keyboard references for VS Code's default keybindings. Shortcuts that need a recent version say which one.

**Why does a shortcut not work for me?**

Usually another app or your system has claimed the same keys, you changed the binding yourself, or your keyboard layout puts a key somewhere else: shortcuts are named after the U.S. key positions. On many laptops, keys such as F5, Home and PgDn also need the Fn key.

**What is the difference between Cmd, Ctrl and Option?**

On a Mac, Command (⌘) does most of what Ctrl does on Windows and Linux: Cmd+C copies and Cmd+S saves. Option (⌥) is the Mac's Alt key, and Control (⌃) is kept for a smaller set of system and text shortcuts. That is why many, but not all, Mac shortcuts simply swap Ctrl for Cmd.

**Can I search by the keys instead of the action?**

Yes. Type the keys with plus signs (ctrl+shift+t), with spaces (cmd shift 4) or with Mac symbols (⌘⇧4), or choose Press keys and press the shortcut itself. The finder lists every shortcut that uses those keys on the platform you picked, exact matches first.
